The questions a skeptical board asks, answered straight.

Including the ones that start with "not today". For direction, see the roadmap.

Buying and switching

We are a board, not a management company. Can we buy Hoamly?
Not directly. Hoamly is sold to property-management companies in the United States that run homeowner associations. If your association is managed by a company, ask them about it. Hoamly is not sold to self-managed boards or individual homeowners.
How does our data get in?
The Hoamly team loads your associations, properties, owners, vendors and opening balances from the exports your current system gives you. There is no self-serve import wizard today.
What if the numbers do not match after the load?
Your accountant checks balances and the trial balance against the old system before anyone outside the office sees the new one. Homeowners are invited only after that check.
Does it work with QuickBooks?
Not today. Hoamly keeps its own general ledger, with a chart of accounts, automatic and manual journals, drill-through to source documents, and standard reports.
Can we move one association first?
Yes. The go-live order is part of scoping, and you can start with one association and invite its homeowners before moving the next.

Payments and fees

How do homeowners pay, and who pays the fees?
By card, by bank transfer (ACH), by autopay, or from a pay-by-email link in their statement that opens Stripe Checkout without a login. Card and ACH processing fees are charged by Stripe per transaction, and each association decides whether to pass the fee on to the payer or absorb it.
Where does the money go?
Payments are paid into the association's own connected account, not into a Hoamly account.
What about owners who will not use a website?
The pay-by-email link needs no login, and statements still go out by email. Lockbox file import and mobile check deposit are not available today, so a company with heavy paper-check volume should say so before the demo.
Can an owner who falls behind get a payment plan?
Yes. Homeowners can request a plan in the portal, or a manager can set one up. While a plan is active, collections and late fees pause.

Owners and boards

Will homeowners actually use the portal?
We do not quote adoption figures, because we do not have audited ones to quote. What we can say: there is nothing to install, it works in a phone's browser, invitations go out by email, and a homeowner can pay from the statement link without ever signing in.
Do renters get access?
Yes. Renters can submit maintenance requests and read announcements and community documents. They cannot pay, file architectural requests or vote.
Can a board member see other associations?
No. Board members are added per association and see only the association they are assigned to. Staff see only the associations they are assigned to.

Security

Is card data safe?
Card details are handled by Stripe. Pay-by-email links open Stripe Checkout.
Is Hoamly SOC 2 certified?
No. Hoamly does not hold a SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001 or PCI DSS attestation of its own today, and the security page lists only the controls that exist in the product.
Who at Hoamly can see our data?
Hoamly staff work in a separate console that is read-only by default. Elevated access is time-limited, needs a second person's approval for sensitive actions, and is audited.
Is there two-factor sign-in?
Not today. Sign-in is email and password through Auth0, on your company's own subdomain. Two-factor sign-in and single sign-on with your own identity provider are not available today.

AI and rules

Does the AI act on its own?
Only for routine, high-confidence work, such as coding an invoice to the GL when it is at least 90% confident, and reminder notices that go out on schedule. Paying an invoice, sending a firm collection notice and changing a record always need a person's approval.
Where do the AI's answers come from?
From the association's own documents, with citations so anyone can check the source.
Which states' rules are built in?
California, Florida and Texas, for architectural review deadlines, violation handling, late fees, meeting notice periods and proxies. Rules for other states are not built in today.
Is there an API?
Not today. There is no public API, webhook feed or connector for customers today. See the roadmap for direction.
